After Hours / Advice
When the office is closed your call will transfer to the answering service who will connect you to a trained on-call pediatric nurse for advise who is backed 24/7/365 days a year by Dr Paul Thomas MD or his call-coverage pediatrician Dr. Squyres.
Dr. Thomas also offers Pediatric Urgent Care, a pediatrics-only urgent care clinic that is open in this same office from 7pm-10pm M-F and 1pm-9pm Weekends and Holidays. If your child is needing immediate or urgent care after regular business hours, please bring them to Pediatric Urgent Care. The phone number is 503.597.KIDS (5437). Questions?
If you do not get a call back within an hour or if you feel your child’s condition is an emergency please call back and let the answering service know you need to reach the doctor on call immediately. PLEASE CALL 911 if your child is struggling to breathe, is not responding at all or is having an unexplained seizure.
Well Visits
Schedule well visits, physicals and new patients with complex histories (autism, ADD, etc) 1 - 2 months in advance.
Schedule of Visits:
• Prenatal
• Newborn check (in hospital)
• 1 - 3 days after hospital
• 2 weeks
• 2, 4, 6, 9, 12 & 18 months
• From year 2 - 6 wellness visits are yearly
• From 6 - 22 wellness visits are every other year unless needed annually for sports
Sick Visits
Always get same-day appointments if your child is ill. We will stay as late as needed. Please call before 3:00pm.
Telephone Tips
Avoid calling 8:00am - 10:00am unless it’s urgent. Same-day sick appointments are filled in order (call early for earlier same-day appointments).
